On Friday and Saturday, all the outbounds and inbounds from my Rotary District 6540 went to the annual district conference. This year it was held at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth Indiana. I had so much fun with all the outbounds and inbounds. The purpose of us being at this conference was to expose the Rotarians to the world of Rotary Youth Exchange and promote it throughout Rotary. The Rotarians I met were all so nice and welcoming. They all wished me luck on my year abroad (and a few even thought I was an inbound from Denmark!) We listened to some interesting lectures but we also had some time to talk with each other, play basketball, swim, and make s'mores. It was sad realizing that this will be the last time we will all be together as the exchange group. Since pictures are worth a thousand words, I thought it'd be better just to attach a few photos to share the amazing weekend I had at the conference.
The picture below is of a few of the outbounds and inbounds in our district . The guy in the center is Mike who is the outbound coordinator but helps both outbounds and inbounds. We decided to give him a present to say thanks for all he's been doing to help us all so in light of the recent holiday, Easter, we bought him a pink fluffy bunny with "2014" stamped on the foot so he remembers the group of us. The rows are a bit shaky so I'll just name everybody left to right:
Bryant, Kenzie, me, Por, David, Nicole, Zuzia, Mike, Bruno, Maggie, Sydney, and Linda.

The next picture below is a bit grainy but it's a "selfie" of the Fort Wayne area bunch of us. We are on our way to the conference and as you can tell, got a bit silly. It was definitely challenging to get six kids, all their luggage, and two guitars to fit into one minivan! In the very back from left to right are outbounds Maggie, Sydney, and Kenzie. The middle row is Zuzia (Poland) and Bruno (Brazil).
The next photo below is of Zuzia, Maggie, and Bruno giving their best model poses for the camera. Quite the lookers, huh? (I really hope they don't kill me for posting this photo!)
And the final photo is of me carrying the Netherlands flag. We had to all carry flags (sadly, they didn't have Denmark's flag so I grabbed the Netherlands one) and danced/ walked gracefully around the tables for breakfast while they played a patriotic song. The only rules they gave us were to not impale anyone with the end of the flag (that one's a bit obvious) and to get on stage when the music started to fade out so we all enjoyed freely waving the given flags as we tried to avoid running into each other.
Hopefully, I will post again soon updating on any information/ exciting things. Have a wonderful Spring!

Sophie
